Close Coupled Toilet Horizontal Outlet 180 mm Set-Out Explained
Set-out is the distance from the finished wall to the centre of the waste. On this model it is 180 mm minimum, rear outlet. Get it wrong on a refurbishment and the pan either stands proud of the wall or fouls the soil pipe, and you find out on site with the tiles already down.
These are the numbers your installer will ask for, taken from the production drawing rather than a catalogue round-up:
Minimum set-out: 180 mm, horizontal rear outlet
Outlet spigot: 102 mm outside, 80 mm bore
Floor fixing centres: 160 mm
Base footprint: 440 × 270 mm
Projection from wall: 615 mm
Rim height: 400 mm, plus seat
Seat: 426 × 360 mm
Cistern: 365 mm wide, 390 mm high, 135 mm deep
Why the Back to Wall Close Coupled Toilet Format Suits Refurbishment
The cistern is 135 mm deep. That is what holds total projection to 615 mm while still carrying a full 6 litre flush, and it is the reason this suite fits cloakrooms and compact en-suites where a conventional cistern would push the pan too far into the room.
A back to wall close coupled toilet also skirts the trap and closes the gap to the wall. For hotel and student accommodation buyers the argument is housekeeping: there is no exposed trap or floor gap to clean around, and no pipework for a guest to see. For distributors it removes the most common installation complaint on close coupled suites, which is a visible gap where the wall is out of plumb.
Dual Flush Close Coupled Toilet 6/3 Litre: Water Volumes
Full flush is 6 litres, reduced flush 3 litres, washdown discharge, dual-button actuation on the cistern lid.
Six litres is the maximum single flush volume permitted for a WC in new work under UK Building Regulations Approved Document G (Part G, Schedule 1). Comparable volume limits apply across most European markets. We state the volume; we do not state compliance - see the next section.
Quality Control: Every Unit Water-Tested
Bodies are cast on our forming lines and fired in tunnel kilns - one 126 m × 3.2 m, two 82 m × 2.8 m. Section temperature across each kiln stage is held even and the firing curve is adjustable, which matters when a repeat order has to match a suite already installed on a previous floor of the same hotel.
Water absorption is 0.5% or lower, which places the body in the vitreous china class. Glaze is sprayed, then every finished unit is filled and water-tested for leaks and cistern function before it goes to packing.
Any close coupled toilet manufacturer can send you a photograph of a kiln. The number that matters is what happens to the units that fail the water test: ours are broken out, not repaired and re-tested. A repaired body passes the second test and fails in the customer's bathroom two years later, and the distributor carries that call, not the factory.
Packaging and Shipping: 380–418 Sets per 40HQ
Each suite ships as two cartons, not one. Packing the assembled envelope in a single box wastes roughly 30% of the volume on air above the pan, and on a European route that air is the most expensive thing in the container.

Note the weight column. A full 40HQ of this suite lands around 17 tonnes against a payload near 26 tonnes, so the container cubes out long before it weighs out. Buyers ordering basins, cisterns or bathroom furniture on the same booking have roughly eight tonnes of unused payload to work with - which is why we quote mixed loads rather than pushing a full container of one model.
Wholesale Close Coupled Toilet Suites: MOQ, Lead Time, Colour
Minimum order is 20 pcs of this model. Production lead time is 35–45 days from deposit and approved artwork, longer if product-level testing is added. Colours are white and biscuit. Wholesale close coupled toilet suites can be combined with other models on one container to reach volume without holding 400 sets of a single SKU.
OEM Ceramic Toilet Manufacturer: Samples and Branding
Samples are chargeable and take 45 days; the charge is credited against a subsequent bulk order once volume is reached. Sample and bulk are cast from the same moulds and fired on the same kiln programme, which is the point of confirming a physical sample before release.
As an OEM ceramic toilet manufacturer we supply printed colour boxes from 50 sets, and flush valves and fill valves to your specification, including European brands, where your market or your service network expects a particular fitting.
FAQ
Q: What is the minimum order quantity for the FTZ-2403?
A: Twenty pieces. That is a genuine 20, not a mixed-container minimum, so a distributor can trial the model before committing to a full pallet programme. Orders below 20 pcs are quoted only as chargeable samples.
Q: How many sets fit in a 40HQ?
A: Between 380 and 418 sets, depending on the load plan and whether pallets or timber crates are used. A 20GP takes 165 to 181 sets. The suite cubes out before it weighs out, leaving payload spare for basins or furniture on the same booking.
Q: Is the FTZ-2403 approved for sale in the UK?
A: It does not hold WRAS approval, Unified Water Label registration or UKCA marking at present. The flush volume of 6/3 litres sits within the 6 litre maximum in Approved Document G, but volume is not approval. Product-level testing can be arranged per order.
Q: Can you supply it with European flush valves?
A: Yes. Fill and flush valves are specified per order, and we will fit a buyer-nominated European brand where your service network stocks those spares. Confirm the make at enquiry stage, as it affects both cost and lead time.
Q: Why buy direct from a close coupled toilet manufacturer rather than a trading company?
A: Two practical reasons: the batch code on the pan traces back to a kiln run we can pull records for, and a claim is settled by the people who fired the goods. A trading company can offer neither, and on ceramics that difference shows up when something goes wrong.
