★ Grouting molding
Grouting molding is basically the process where we inject slurry into a porous mold-mostly gypsum ones-and let the mold absorb the water from the slurry. As for pouring, we use built-in pipes to drain any extra slurry from the bottom. Once that's done, we move on to demolding: take the blank out of the mold, then do some assembly work and drill holes if needed, like faucet holes, overflow holes, drain holes, installation holes, you name it. The whole point is to turn the slurry into a semi-finished blank inside the gypsum mold, and just so you know, every single finished piece needs at least two mold parts put together to form.
(1) Computer-controlled high-pressure grouting (for ceramic washbasins)
For ceramic washbasins, we use computer-controlled high-pressure grouting. The filtered slurry is pumped into the mold by machine, and pretty much every step is run by a computer. The whole production line-from grouting all the way to demolding-takes around 70 minutes. One production line is equipped with about 20 sets of molds.
(2) Casting mold production line injection molding (for ceramic toilets)
Ceramic toilets are made with a casting mold production line injection molding process. We inject the pre-mixed slurry into the mold through pipes, and the injection time depends on how big the product is. Normally, continuous injection takes roughly 3.5 to 4 hours, plus another hour to drain the excess slurry. After finishing all the required steps and waiting time, we can open the mold, then drill holes on the toilet body.
One important thing to keep in mind: we have to coat the finished toilet blank with a thin film, otherwise it might crack during the shrinking process. In a month, we make around 500 toilets, and usually 10 to 20 of them end up damaged-but no big deal, the broken blanks can be recycled and re-cast. Also, the newly formed toilet has to harden enough to stand upright, which usually takes a whole night to set.
