As an essential sanitary fixture in modern homes, proper toilet use and maintenance not only enhances the user experience but also prolongs its lifespan and reduces malfunctions. Below are some practical toilet tips, covering daily use, cleaning and maintenance, and troubleshooting common problems.

Proper Toilet Usage
1. Avoid Improper Use
Many users are accustomed to disposing non-dispersible items like wet wipes and sanitary napkins down the toilet, which can cause clogs. Strictly adhere to the principle of "discharging only human waste and toilet paper"; all other waste should be disposed of in the trash.
2. Proper Flushing
Modern toilets often feature dual flush buttons (half flush/full flush). Selecting the appropriate level based on your needs can conserve water. If your toilet lacks this feature, you can manually control the flush volume, such as by briefly pressing the flush valve to reduce water waste.
3. Keep the Toilet Lid Closed
Flushing can cause water to splash into the air, carrying bacteria. Keeping the toilet lid closed effectively reduces the spread of germs, especially for families with children or elderly people.

Cleaning and Maintenance Tips
1.Regular Deep Cleaning

The toilet bowl, tank, and base are prone to limescale and stains. It is recommended to scrub them weekly with a dedicated toilet cleaner and soak them monthly with white vinegar or citric acid to remove stubborn limescale. Avoid prolonged contact of chlorine-containing cleaners with ceramic to prevent corrosion.
2.Inspect the Seals and Tank

Aging rubber seals on the toilet base can lead to leaks and require regular inspection and replacement. The float valve and flush valve in the tank should also be inspected regularly. Any leaks or insufficient flushing force should be repaired promptly.
3.Mold and Deodorization

Mold can easily grow on the back of the toilet bowl and on the top of the tank. Wipe them with a diluted disinfectant. Placing charcoal bags or using natural deodorizers (such as baking soda) can absorb odors and keep the air fresh.

Common Troubleshooting
1.Toilet Clog

For minor clogs, use a plunger to repeatedly press and unblock the clog. If this doesn't work, try running hot (not boiling) water to soften the clog. For more serious problems, it's recommended to contact a professional to avoid damaging the pipes by using chemicals.
2.Toilet Flush

This may be caused by a low tank water level or a clogged drain port. Adjusting the tank float or cleaning the drain port can correct the problem. If the problem persists, check the flush valve for damage.

Mastering these tips will not only optimize toilet efficiency but also reduce repair costs, ensuring a healthy and safe home environment. Regular maintenance and proper operation are key to extending the life of your toilet.
